Frédéric DESIMPEL

Trained at the Cremona school by luthiers Massimo Neggroni and Stefano Conia, Frédéric Desimpel continued his training with Pascal Gilis in Brussels, with whom he founded the Meteny Quartet Instrument workshop in 1994, which he left in 2004.

Building on this experience, he opened his own workshop in 2006: Atelier de lutherie La Cigale. Today, on the corner of rue de l'hospice communal and avenue de la Fauconnerie in Watermael Boitsfort, a new story has begun...

Frédéric Desimpel's main activity is building cellos. Wood that has been dry for more than 20 years forms the basis of his work. The techniques taught at the Cremona school have enabled him to master the construction of the quartet's instruments and sharpen his sensitivity as a violin maker.
